After a nail biting final at Nottingham Hockey Centre

Congratulations to the U18 Boys who retain the England Hockey Tier 1 Championship title for 2023/24. The team, coached by Michael and Jono, won 3-2 in a nail biting game against an excellent Guildford HC side. The victory secures a spot at next years' U19 EHCO Trophy tournament and is a fitting end for those players moving on as they finish their time as juniors with Repton HC. Captain Olly lifted the trophy for his team alongside goal scorers Xavax, Joe R, Zak W and standout GK Luke J.

The U16 Girls showed how well they have progressed as a team over the season with a dominant 4-1 win against Surbiton in the England Hockey Tier 1 Plate Final. Coached by Adam and Grace the players showed impressive skill and composure against a strong opposition to score 4 excellent team goals in the first half (Tabitha, Clara, Layla, Zara).

The U16 Boys headed to the National Finals weekend at Nottingham top of their post Christmas Supra League pool. They met a strong Surbiton side in their opening game and were disappointed to come away with a 1-3 loss, in what was an incredibly tight end to end match, with a fabulous finish in front of the goal from Will F. The boys dominated in their second pool game against Trojans, reversing their opening game score line with a 3-1 win and a brace for Rocco and a goal for Stanley. A draw in their final pool game vs Wotton (2-2 Rocco, Hugh) saw them finish second in their pool, setting up a draw vs Cambridge City for the bronze medal playoff. In this final game they lost by just one goal (0-1 FT), in a match which saw endless chances in front of the goal for both teams.
Having only narrowly qualified for the post Christmas supra-league competition (as one of the top placed third placed teams) the team should be incredibly proud with their 4th place finish in the National Finals. The squad committed to secure a spot at Nationals and their diligence and hard work through the season paid off with an excellent account of themselves against the best teams in the country last weekend.

Thank you to team managers Non, Craig and Jon for all their behind the scenes work including team logistics, kit issues and sorting player availability over what has been a very busy season.
