Half Season Summary

Half Season Summary

Secretary Repton HC18 Dec 2024 - 17:47

As we head to the outdoor league break its time to reflect on a successful start to the 24/25 season!

The newly promoted LCS Containers W1s finish the first half the season mid table and 6th place in EH Division 1 North, finding their form with 2 wins in their last 2 games. Goals have been shared across the squad with four players, Kat M, Lucy B, Kate B and Anna M, leading the goal scoring tally. Head Coach Michael Hoare said, "Playing in National Division 1 has been a step up for our W1s. We certainly learnt some tough lessons in our first six games. However, the work ethic and culture has been brilliant from everyone involved. This has been crucial and rewarded by positive results prior to the Christmas break".

Supported by partner Baron & Grant the M1s head to the indoor season, unbeaten and top of EH Conference Midlands. Adam Dixon leads the goal scorers (7) closely followed by U18s Ethan S (6) and Marcus L (4) tied with Rich Lawrence (4). M1s coach Adam commented, "Having got to the winter break unbeaten the team are set up well for the run in to the end of the season. There are no easy games in the national league and every win has to be earned. It has therefore been pleasing to see the group develop a level of consistency and resilience that hopefully follows through into the business end of the season".

The Baron & Grant M2s have improved over the course of 10 games to find their form and head in to the break as title contenders. The squad includes a significant number of juniors from U14s through to U18s playing alongside experienced adults, many of whom have been with Repton HC since its formation in 2016. James Johnson leads the goal scoring (7) with U18s Rocco EW (5) and Zak W (4) in close contention for the top goal scorer spot in the squad! M2s Coach Jake Read commented, "The 2s have had a great start in Div 3 East. After a successful previous season in Div 4 East which saw them promoted. With only 3 losses this side of Christmas and everyone to play again, the lads have put themselves in a good position for a promotion battle when we return currently sat in 3rd. Rotation has been a vital part of the teams' success and with over 30 players having represented the Men’s 2nd team this half of the season, it shows the real strength and depth of the squad. I’m very much looking forward to some huge games when we return and hope to see as many spectators as possible on the side lines to support the boys."

The juniors have once again achieved all targets set for the first half of this season with the U18 and U14s Boys and Girls all progressing in the EH T1 Championships.
Both the U16 Boys and Girls progress to the post Christmas Supra-Leagues after successful Midland League campaigns in the new style combined League / Championship competition for this age group. The U14 Boys and Girls also both secured a top 3 finish in their Midlands leagues to secure their spot in the Supra-Leagues . It looks set to be a busy second half of the season for all teams as they reach the final stages of these national competitions,

The U12s have had plenty of match play tournaments across the Midlands and look forward to the competitive in2hockey tournaments in February and March. The U10s have enjoyed some indoor match play after a weekly training block outdoors from September and will also be playing in the county in2hockey championships in the spring.

After a weekly indoor training block running at Repton since October, the U18 and U16 Girls and Boys were all unbeaten at the regional indoors tournament and were well deserved 24/25 Midlands Super 6s Champions. The U18 and U16 Boys and Girls head to the National Finals in January at Derby Arena (11th January U16s, 12th January U18s).
