With the U14 Girls, Mens' and Women's teams in action last weekend

Last week saw three of our teams in England Hockey Championship action in the final stages of this season's competition.

The SCC Women's 1st XI hosted Timperley HC on a balmy Thursday evening at Repton in the quarter-finals of the competition. After a tight Round 3 fixture against National League side Brooklands HC, the women were firing on all cylinders against the visiting team and the final scoreline of 12-0 reflects the strength and depth of this squad. The team included five U16 players and, led by captain Hannah Davey and Olympian Sally Walton along with four Old Reptonians, the future of the women's section of the club is definitely looking promising.

This Sunday the SCC Women's 1st XI will host Clifton Robinsons HC for the semi-final of the EH Championships in what looks set to be a challenging test for the side against National Premier Division opposition. Please come down and support the team for the 12.05pm pushback on the water based astro!

We are really proud of the MT13 U14 Girls who have reached the National Finals of this year's England Hockey Championships. Over the course of this season's competition 22 players have been included in different championship matches and the team which travelled to City of York HC for the semi-finals last weekend came away with an impressive 3-0 win to see them through to this Saturday's finals at Nottingham Hockey Centre. With different members of the squad having to isolate for different periods over the past few weeks due to Covid, this achievement really is a reflection of the commitment and ability of the whole U14s squad. The girls have shown their resilience coping with a changing squad and stepping up for each match to play as a team and quickly adapt and progress through the competition. Congratulations to the whole squad and we all wish the team the very best of luck for tomorrow's National Finals matches against Trojans HC and Knole Park HC.

The Bulls Head Men's 1st XI England Hockey Championship run came to an end last Sunday as they were defeated away by National Premier Division side Beeston HC in the quarter-finals (2-5). The score was held to 2-2 with fifteen minutes remaining with excellent goals from GB International Martin Jones and James Sookias, but the depth and quality of the Beeston players told and they ran out worthy winners. The Men's hockey continues though with summer league starting at Nottingham Hockey Centre this Tuesday evening vs Loughborough Town and running weekly through July and August.
