With 5 games under their belt the W1s, coached by Michael Hoare, are settling into their newly promoted league and currently sit 6th in England Hockey Division 1 North after some highly competitive matches. There have been exciting opportunities for youngsters including U15s Anna Webster, Anna Metcalf and Eloise Webster to gain their National League debut in the W1s, alongside our more experienced U18 players including Rosie Bowman, Lucy Barker, Kate Barker and Tabby Vaughan. It is testament to the commitment and determination of the whole squad that they are able to compete at such a high level with at least 10 U18s in the match day team.
The M1s, coached by Adam Dixon, are also finding their way in a newly promoted league and have already set their intention, as the only unbeaten team in England Hockey Conference Midlands after 5 games. With 8 U18 boys (including U17 GK Ambrose Davis) playing regularly it has been great to see the younger squad members rise to the National League challenge and feature in our goal scorers season tally with Marcus Lake and Ethan Smythe both leading the way on 3 goals each (chasing Rich Lawrence, after his 4 goal tally vs Barford Tigers!)
The M2s, coached by Jake Read, are also finding their way in a newly promoted league and as the team begin to come together they have recently found their form with back to back wins. With a number of Old Reptonians bringing experience and knowledge of Repton hockey to the team, the M2s league is a fantastic outlet for younger players to gain senior match experience with opportunities given to players as young as regular M2s player 13 year old Alex Owolade-Coombes.
In our junior section all teams from U14s through to U18s have won their Tier 1 League and Championship games so far this season. The U14 and U16 Boys and Girls hold either the 1st or 2nd position in the T1 Midlands League tables, with the top two teams in each league qualifying for the post Christmas supra-league competition to compete for a National Final spot. Club history has shown that strong commitment from all T1 squad members for all match days plays a huge part in the success of the team, so we would ask all players (and parents!) to please check match dates on the pitchero app and make themselves available where possible.
