Women's 1st XI Coach & Head of Performance - MICHAEL HOARE
Michael has a vast amount of experience as a professional Hockey player, making his international debut in 2012, he went on to become a European and Commonwealth medallist. However, it was his experience of accessing the game as a junior player that drove him to embark on a career in coaching.
As well as being a qualified PE teacher, Michael has 16 years of involvement in the sport, working across education, coaching and high-performance sport. This led him to set up The Hockey Lab, an elite hockey coaching company aiming to help individual players develop along their sporting journey. During his time here, Michael has coached numerous players to international junior team selection and achieved scholarships at leading independent schools across the UK.
Men's 1st XI Coach - ADAM DIXON
Adam is a former GB and England captain who has vast experience within the game. His international playing career spanned 13 years and included 2 Olympics, 3 world cups and 3 Commonwealth Games. He has also experienced playing domestically in the Netherlands with HC Rotterdam and has won the Hockey India League (HIL) with the Kalinga Lancers franchise.
His inspiration to pursue a career in coaching stems from his time working alongside some of the very best coaches in the game but more so from his experiences with his junior club and school coaches who instilled in him his love for the sport
Senior Coach - Russell Anderson
Russell made his international debut during 2010 in the Celtic Cup against Ireland and has achieved 70+ Caps and many non capped matches for Scotland Hockey. He has participated in three European II Championships, six World League Qualifications (including tier one, two and three) and the Commonwealth Games 2018 Gold Coast.
He has recently taken a break from International Hockey after the arrival of his son in February 2021.
He has played his club Hockey here in England since the age of 15. Representing Chester Hockey Club and National league clubs Brooklands Hockey Club and Cannock Hockey Club.
Prior to moving to Repton, Russell attended the University of Chester studying a PGCE in Physical Education and a Masters in Exercise and Nutrition. He also played and coached the Men's and Women's Team.
Russell is currently living in Repton where he is Head of Hockey at the Prep School teaching across the age groups (Yr. 2 - 8). He is attending Repton Hockey Club, playing for the Men's Team and coaching the juniors.
Senior Coach - Jake Read
Jake is currently Head of Hockey at Nottingham High School and the current Men's England Universities Head Coach. He has held positions as England O45 Men’s Head Coach, National League Coach with Beeston Hockey Club and MT13 Head Coach.

Other accomplishments include reaching National Finals with Notts High School 3 times in 3 years, as well as a few more medals with England Masters. He also coached Beeston and kept both their Men and Women’s 2nd teams out of National League relegation in the same season.
Senior Coach - Grace Powell
Grace is currently Hockey Development Officer at Repton School and has been a coach for Repton HC since 2020 gaining experience coaching U12s, U14s, U16s, U18s and assisting with the coaching of the Women's indoor and outdoor teams. She is an integral part of the club and also holds the roles of Co-Secretary and Assistant Welfare Officer on the Club Committee.
Grace studied Sport Science and Coaching at University of Birmingham and coached at University of Birmingham and Performance Centres before joining Repton.
She is currently a Level 2 Hockey Coach and qualified in first aid.
Coach - Anna Stone
Anna joined RHC as a player back in 2016/17 when the club was formed.
In 2019 she left to attend Loughborough University. Whilst there Anna played National League and coached the Women’s 4XI as well as managing the 2XI whilst injured.
Post university, Anna came back to Repton in 2023 to work at the School as a hockey grad and a resident tutor in a boarding house. On her return she also rejoined the hockey club as a player for the Women’s 1XI playing Indoor in the Prem and outdoor and securing promotion into Division 1 North for the upcoming season. Anna also runs the RHC instagram and is kit secretary for the club! Keep your eyes peeled for some new posts this year :)
Last season Anna coached the U12 girls to RHC's first ever National Finals at that age group as well as coaching the U14 boys and she looks forward to coaching again for hopefully another successful 24/25 season!
Coach - Jono Hawley
Jono started his hockey career at his local club in Tavistock, before moving to Scotland as a 14 year old. Up in Scotland, he broke into the Scotland U16 team, and then into the Scotland U18 team, receiving caps against the likes of England, Ireland, Wales and Poland to name a few. He represented Grange in the Scottish Premier League as a school boy, before heading down to Exeter University to study Spanish with Politics. At Exeter University, Jono played Premier League hockey against the top sides in the country, as well as playing in the BUCS Premier League against the best universities in the UK.
After leaving Exeter, Jono came to Repton to work as a Sports Graduate Assistant, and he has slotted into the Repton Hockey Club 1st XI, enjoying promotion to the National League in his first season. He has coached various RHC sides this year and is excited for what is to come next season, both playing and coaching.
Coach - Samuel Cossey
Sam has been part of the hockey club for over 7 years and has recently become a Level 2 England Hockey Coach. Sam helps develop and improve players within the junior section of the hockey club while being an assistant to some of the more senior coaches.
Sam started playing hockey from the age of 4 and moved to Repton Hockey Club at the age of 13. Sam has attended and won many National titles with the Club Senior And Junior teams as well as playing in the Men’s 1st XI.
